As a psychic astrologer, I spend a lot of time exploring the cosmos, but I also get my hands dirty here on Earth. I was just now out in the garden, bucketing composted chicken poo onto my plants. Whilst it’s not the most glamorous task, it is plant gold! So please excuse any typos or errors—it’s quite warm, and I’m a bit tired from all the gardening.
Hello, Cosmic Souls! I want to chat about a few astrological ideas that are a bit different to what you may normally come across. I’m mixing traditional astrology with my own unique, contrarian spiritual view … because basically, I’m contrarian by nature! As someone who loves to think outside the box, I really do believe in the power of personal empowerment and using our heads to do it! Together, we can turn astrology into a fun and exciting tool for discovering more about ourselves. And stay grounded and practical to boot! Here’s a collection of philosophical and astrological points on my mind at the moment.
Astrology & Free Will: Travelling Your Cosmic Road
Astrology often raises debates about whether destiny is set in stone or if we have the power and independence to reshape our lives. Instead of viewing astrology as a fixed destiny, consider it a guide
illuminating your free will. The stars are more like navigational signs than strict roadmaps. They offer insight into potential roads, but you’re the one choosing your path. Your choices determine your journey, and astrology is a cosmic roadmap to help steer you. As Carl Jung said, “Astrology impels but does not compel.” While Vedic astrology leans more towards the idea of destiny, Western astrology emphasizes personal empowerment and the power of choice.
My view is that we choose the broad outlines of our lives before we get here, and I actually remember doing this. I chose my country, umming and ahhing over the US and Russia, but I decided they were both too extreme for my liking… I am a Libran, after all. I settled on Australia because it’s in the middle – geographically, philosophically, and culturally. Having said this, I can move to another country if I wish; I can paint over the broad brushstrokes of my life. However, it just happens that I prefer Australia to any other country. So, while I’ve been influenced before I even got here, it doesn’t control me. I am free to make my own decisions within these broad outlines, choosing the fine details as I go.
Skepticism: Essential in Your Astrological Toolkit
Embracing some well thought out skepticism is a good idea when navigating astrology. Don’t take everything at face value—question astrological readings, analyze different interpretations, and engage in open-minded enquiry. This critical thinking approach transforms astrology from a nebulous belief system into a personal exploration tool. By honing your astrological toolkit, you replace passivity with curiosity, fostering deeper understanding and personalization.
Embracing a bit of healthy skepticism is a good idea when it comes to astrology and spirituality generally. Don’t just accept everything at face value—question the readings, explore different interpretations, and keep an open mind. This way, astrology becomes more of a personal exploration tool rather than just a belief system. There are many schools of thought in astrology, and not all of them will resonate with you. Sometimes, these schools of thought may seem conflicted or downright opposite to each other! Therefore, feel free to pick and choose elements from different traditions and blend them into something that feels right for you. By doing this, you turn astrology into a more personalized and meaningful practice. This approach will broaden your mind and amplify your spiritual growth.
Bridging the Gap: Astrology & Science
Astrology and science may seem worlds apart, but intriguing overlaps exist. Astrology is the ‘Father’ of astronomy, thousands of years of planetary observations do count for something. In astrology, there are planetary movement calculations that must be made and these methods are science at work.
Also consider the moon’s gravitational pull affecting tides or studies suggesting correlations between planetary cycles and behavioral patterns. Such connections suggest an interplay between cosmic events and human experiences. Just ask first responders on a Saturday night, if the full moon makes a difference to their shift!
Exploring these types of links can enrich our understanding of astrology and encourage integrating scientific insights into spiritual practices. So science and astrology are not opposed in many circumstances, especially as astrology is built on science. Additionally, astrology goes one step further, adding interpretative intuition into the mix. This makes allowances for our humanity, acknowledging that while science provides the framework, our personal experiences and intuitive insights add depth and meaning to our understanding of the cosmos. And more importantly, to our lives!
Intuition: Your Inner Cosmic Compass
While charts and calculations are valuable, never underestimate the power of your intuition. Your inner voice is a personal cosmic compass guiding you through life’s mysterious and wonderful tapestry. Trust your instincts alongside astrological technicalities and insights. IMHO, it’s important not to get too caught up in cognitive machinations. It’s about weaving your inner wisdom with astrology as a complementary tool, ensuring personal authenticity and depth. If you’re not being truly yourself, then who are you being?
Astrology provides a framework, but your intuition adds the color and texture that make it uniquely yours. When you blend the analytical aspects of astrology with your intuitive insights, you create a more holistic and personalized approach. This balance allows you to navigate life’s challenges and opportunities with greater clarity and confidence. Don’t be afraid to make a few mistakes along the way. If you’re not making mistakes, you’re not learning.
Life has a way of coming full circle. Just like toddlers, we’re constantly learning, stumbling, and getting back up again. Each step, even the wobbly ones, is progress. It’s important to be kind to ourselves and remember that growth is a journey, not a destination.
Even mature people make mistakes, and as we age, we start falling over all over again—quite literally! Falls can be serious, so it’s important to take care of your physical body as you mature. Embracing these moments with a sense of humor and resilience can make the journey all the more meaningful. Remember, each stage of life brings its own lessons and opportunities for growth.
Interestingly, the concept of ‘sin’ in ancient Hebrew is often translated as ‘missteps’ or ‘mistakes.’ This interpretation reminds us that making mistakes is a natural part of being human. So, if sins are missteps, and you keep falling over and making missteps, are you making mistakes in life too? Are these falls about sins of the past that you’ve not resolved? By acknowledging our missteps and learning from them, we can grow and evolve. Let go of the burdens of the past, let them flow from your shoulders now!
Remember, astrology is not just about predicting the future; it’s about understanding yourself and your place in the Universe (one verse). By listening to your inner wisdom, you make astrology a living, breathing practice that evolves with you. Maybe even turn it into a career opportunity if you feel led.
Synchronicity vs. Coincidence: Embracing Meaningful Connections
In the realm of spirituality, consider the idea of synchronicity—meaningful coincidences that seem too timely to be chance. You may have been thinking about something and asking for a sign, then you get it…is that a coincidence? Unlike randomness, synchronicity invites you to explore life through a lens of interconnected meaning. These moments of alignment between internal reflections and external events can become cues guiding you toward inner growth and deeper understanding.
I remember once having a very strong urge to go and visit a friend. I went immediately. When I arrived, he was having a very heated argument with his parents, unbeknown to me. I knocked on the door and when he answered, I saw that he was clearly shaken but asked me to come in. When I walked in and saw his parents I knew something major was going on. They left pretty well straight away. He told me later, that my arrival was like a ‘circuit breaker’ stopping the argument so they could all cool down and talk rationally later on. A coincidence or synchronicity at play?
Synchronicity suggests that these events are not merely random but are interconnected in a meaningful way. Intuition guided me to my friend’s house at precisely the right moment, creating a positive impact. This alignment between an internal urge and ‘receptive’ external situation can be seen as a sign of deeper connections at work.
By embracing synchronicity, we can open ourselves up to the possibility that life is filled with meaningful connections. These moments can serve as guides, helping us navigate through life with greater awareness and understanding. Whether you view them as coincidences or synchronicities, they offer valuable insights into the interconnected nature of our experiences.
Here’s another power example of synchronicity. One time over 40 years ago, I felt compelled to drive out to a vast outback property to see my husband. He was there for the day doing an endurance race. These properties are huge and go for many miles. Although I didn’t know where he was on that property, and there were multiple turns to take, I just ‘winged’ it and found him. He was on the ground unconscious with a broken leg. My intuition led me there, just when he needed help the most. When he regained consciousness, I was out of the car and approaching him. He said “Rose what are you doing here” and I replied “I don’t actually know”. I had navigated various turns and didn’t know the race track route but wound up in the right place at the right time.
This moment of synchronicity highlights the profound connection between inner guidance and the external world.
Astrology and Spirituality: A Journey of Self-Empowerment
Astrology, at its heart, is all about giving you the power to understand yourself and the different paths you can take. By embracing your free will, being a bit skeptical, and trusting your gut, astrology becomes a tool for spirituality, self-discovery and personal empowerment.
But hey, not everyone will see eye to eye with your astrological insights. And that’s okay! These disagreements can actually make you stronger. By listening to different perspectives, you sharpen your own understanding and sort out any internal conflicts. This not only boosts your self-awareness but also makes you feel more empowered. Embracing the challenge of differing opinions can make you even more powerful as you move forward in your journey of self-discovery.
When It’s All said and Done…
By embracing these contrarian ideas and practices, you expand the tapestry of spiritual exploration, freeing yourself from a single path. Remember, whether you navigate the stars or draw wisdom from diverse practices, the journey is deeply personal and incredibly empowering. Each step unfolds a richer understanding of yourself and the Universe you inhabit.
